[The shuffle of papers, the scribbling of a pencil in the background--someone's busy. But the distraction doesn't last long as Rita takes note of the date-]

Wait a minute--September?! How the hell is it--it's almost October again...

[ He almost forgot about how late it was getting in the year in terms of how the city itself will change. After Eagle and Euphie went insane and the two of them regressed back into their mind-controlled states before, though, maybe he should have realised it sooner.

Rita has to be as worried as he is, he thinks. He sends a private message to her just in case, just to prevent eavesdropping. ]

Are you okay?

[She feels a bit relieved to hear him, both because of what happened on the weekend and because he's one of the few people she feels comfortable talking with about this.

Tyr...Yeah. [She could tell him that everything's fully healed, but that's not what she thinks he's worried about.]

...I just can't believe it's already coming up again.

[ He isn't concerned about her injury anymore; he knows it was treated quickly enough that it wouldn't be life-threatening. Just seeing her injured like that still makes him sick to recall, though. Those are one aspect of his memories that wasn't cloudy at all after the curse...

But October being close means it's more likely for the same thing to happen again. That's what he's worried about now. ]

Me either... But... It's like the City is preparing already...

Are you worried about something in October? Did something bad happened then?

[It was lucky Tyr had the water rune, after all. Now that it's over, she's not thinking too much about how much worse it could've been if she hadn't given that one back to him, but...

October coming is the biggest worry now--especially with Estelle back. Not to mention what happened to Tyr the year before.]

You think that weekend was... You weren't cursed, were you? [Not that she noticed, at least, but it might make something more likely next month...]

Huh? Yeah, something like that...

So you weren't here last year?

[ If he didn't have the water rune, he doesn't know what would have happened to her - if Riou would have been able to save her or if Estelle would have made it in time.

The fact she didn't realise he was cursed make him realise how little he must have changed in what's meant to be decades. ]

...No, I was, but...I actually remembered you, so maybe you didn't notice because of that... I do think that weekend is the City's way of giving us a warning, though.

[Gels certainly wouldn't have done the trick...

She's surprised to hear that, trying to think if anything was different about him--he'd been serious, but she thought that was just normal under the circumstances. It's hard to remember, though, when she was so caught up in thinking about Euphie and Eagle.

So, ignoring the part about the warning for now-]

You--wait, what kind of curse was it?

[ Tyr would have had a little trouble truly forgiving Eagle if there was no way Rita could have been saved.

He doesn't have an issue answering her question. In the end, it was more of a revealing curse than a bad one... ]

It was like the one where Yuri and I thought we were from the future within the City... But instead of staying here, Riou and I thought we went home and returned here after...I guess about fifty years or so...

[A bad situation...They're lucky that wasn't the case.

There's a slight feeling of relief when she hears that. The last curse Tyr mentions reminds her that a lot can change in a few years--let alone fifty--but Rita still thinks that's a mild curse in comparison.

At the same time, though, she feels like she should have noticed a change if it was that long.] Fifty years?

...I...didn't notice. There was a lot going on, but...Sorry.

It's fine... Maybe I didn't really change that much in the end... [ Even though he knows that he did. It just didn't affect the way he fought and worked with her. In that way, it was easily overlooked next to Eagle and Euphie's situation. ]

[It seemed normal enough to her at the time that she didn't notice, so maybe he's right, but...As long as nothing bad happened to Tyr, that's okay, right?]

So everything was okay with you?

[ It's not like he was a hermit with Riou and they could never settle down for more than a month, right? Even with Riou, it was a pretty lonely life to Tyr. ]

More or less... I had Riou, so... It wasn't as bad as I thought the future would be...

[One person is better than none, but...Rita wouldn't want him to have a lonely life.]

What do you mean, not as bad? [He mentioned having Riou with him, so-] You didn't think that...you wouldn't have anyone, did you?

[ There's a quiet sigh on his end. After leaving Gregminster, after losing Gremio again... He doesn't want to think about it. The best answer he can give her is: ]

It's the way life is...

[That might as well be a yes, she thinks.]

No. [Her voice is quiet, but firm. She wasn't too worried about the curse before, but she's more concerned now with him talking like that.] That's not how anything should be.

[ There's a difference between "should be" and "is", but at the moment, he won't argue with her. It's only because she's Rita that he'll talk about this in the first place. ]

I don't want it to be like that, but... [ If he knew the words to say, he would be okay telling her. All he can think of is that she'll never have to be lonely, but that's not really the point. ]

[She knows there is, but she wants it to be different. If only they didn't have to leave to separate worlds, she believes she could something.

But...] I don't want you to be like that, either. [There's just no way she knows how to fix it.]

Rita... [ The fact she did something in the City proves to him things would be different. If they were face to face right now, Tyr isn't sure what he'd do. He hates that now he's making her sad. ]

I'm not. As long as I'm here, everything should be fine... Because of you. [ He adds the last part partially to make her feel better and largely because he'll never stop being grateful towards her. ]

Huh? [He does throw her off a bit, and she blushes slightly, but she's kind of glad, too. Thinking about the rest of his statement, though, she still wants it to be better for him when he does--eventually--return home.] I...I'm just glad it works. [The blastia, that is. Since it seems to be working.]

[...She actually hates talking about this with just voice, so she switches to video, her cheeks a bit pink but her expression soft.]

[ Tyr definitely doesn't mind seeing her face again. He smiles a little at her - he's actually hanging out at the beach now if the background is any indication, but his fishing gear isn't visible.

At the moment, the blastia works on his faith that it does; there's no way of actually knowing if it does without someone actually dying... ] I don't have any doubts about it...

[She's surprised to see he's at the beach--maybe he's not far.

Relieved to see him and hear his response, she manages a bit more of a smile in return.] ...Thanks.

Hey...Are you near the house?

... Relatively. [ He's not that close, but he's neither on the other side of the island or in the city proper. She might be able to hear his line being reeled in as he speaks. ] I'll come closer and we can meet halfway.

[She hears the reel--figures that's what he'd be doing out there--but more importantly, they're going to meet up. "Relatively" close normally wouldn't be specific enough for her, but she doesn't really care this time.] Yeah. Okay. I'll be there soon.

[And she gets up from where she's sitting--predictably, in a pile of books and papers.]

[ Just where he thought she would be even if he wasn't too focused on the sound of her writing earlier. He's happy that they'll see each other again - maybe because she usually cheers him up - and he fumbles around to get everything together to see her. ]

I'm on the western side of the house when you get out, so look out for me. [ Since, really, how could she tell one piece of beach from another? ]
