[The video's not very clear when it comes on; it's dark and gloomy, showing hints of thick dust and cobwebs--a glimpse of a window reveals deep fog--and then it shifts to Rita's wide-eyed face. When she speaks, she's trying very hard to pretend she's calm...and failing pretty horribly.]

I-is anyone else stuck in this weirdo place? I mean, it's not like I need help or anything, but-

[A loud creak and sudden clatter of footsteps interrupts her, the shutters to the window abruptly blowing open, and she jumps with a yelp.] Aah--! Uh--it's not sc--just where's the exit, already?!

[Maybe realizing that the video's still recording her little freak-out, she quickly shuts it off.]

Oh... [ He's still surprised. She seems so casual about it... ] I didn't think you were the type that liked doing that... [ It's not like this is the same situation as travelling and having limited beds... ]

[Estelle was probably the one who insisted when they were the only two girls, and eventually Rita got used to it. It seems pretty normal to her now.]

Huh? Then what "type" am I?

[ It's still strange for Tyr, though, to see her as the type that cuddles with Estelle. Estelle would probably openly think her acting like a cat is cute, too...

His response is simple and without any sort of malice. ] The type that likes to sleep alone...

[Of course, Rita would deny that any cuddling happens. (It probably does, too.)

Since he's not making fun of her, she gives it a bit of actual thought.] Hmm...I wouldn't say I like it or dislike it. It's just how things were.

[ And her denying it would just confirm that it does... ]

And you two just decided you might as well keep it up here? [ He guesses that's reasonable. ]

[N-not like she'd be tsun about it or anything-!!]

Yeah. When she came back, anyway. Before, it was...[Her expression turns a bit more grim. Originally, it was after the nightmare curse.] Estelle needed it.

[ We already established that Rita never tsuns! ]

[ When the air around her changes, he sits up on his elbows. That look makes him concerned, but he doesn't know what to say, and he just falls silent for a minute. ]

... She probably likes having you close anyway.

[ It comes out awkwardly, but it's the best he could think of without totally changing the topic in case Rita wanted to continue. ]

[Yeah! So it's not even a question...!]

[Rita nods. It'd be easier to talk about it with Tyr since they kind of went through it together...or, thinking back to what happened in her dream...probably not.]

...Yeah. [Her reply comes out awkwardly too, and then she sort of tries to move on.] But she doesn't know, so--now it's just...It's nice.

[ Nope-! ]

[ He offers her a weak smile. ] Then it should stay just being nice...

[ He doesn't know exactly what happened that caused them to start sleeping together here before, but he can tell it disturbed Rita...and knowing how bad things turned last October and the surrounding months, he doesn't doubt that Estelle would need Rita.

After a moment, he carefully asks- ] ...Is it still on your mind, though?

[There's not really any reason for her to lie...besides not giving away her weakness and insecurity, but this is Tyr. So she looks down and nods.]

It's just that it's October again. It's better that she doesn't know what happened last year, but I don't want her to go through anything like that again.

[ So it was about this month... He's not surprised that she's torn up about it, but seeing her show it...that makes him worry about the two of them more. Taking a deep breath, he shakes his head. ]

We know better now, so we can make sure she doesn't... She doesn't need to know anything about it.

I know. I'm not going to tell her. [Unless Estelle really pressed; Rita can't lie to her.] But you know how curses are. She could find out, anyway, or...Or it could happen again.

[ He pushes himself up then to sit properly beside her. But she's right - Estelle could find out, either by being shown or by being hurt again - and they can't stop that. He looks down at the sheets, unsure of what to tell her. ]

...

You're right... But...there's no point to worrying about it either... If that ever happens again, the best we could do is try to get her out...

[Now that her mind's on it again, it's hard not to worry. She wasn't able to stop anything last year, so she's not very optimistic about their chances this time, either. Especially after those ghosts...]

...I hate these curses. If it weren't for those, I wouldn't care about being here. [She might even like it in some ways--mostly for the friends she's made.]

[ He falls silent again, looking over at her darkly. This doesn't even feel like it's just about last October now. ]

... Me either. We need to put up with them until we can find a way to stop them, though...

[She avoids his gaze, staring down at her hands, which she has curled into tense fists on her crossed legs.]

If that's even possible... [Her tone is low and moody, although the idea might get her thinking about it.]

It has to be. [ His voice is as determined as it is pleading. He doesn't look away from her, but he doesn't care if she doesn't look at him, either. ] We can think of something together to at least stop them from affecting us.

[ And they need hope. Tyr knows how important it is now. ]

[She closes her eyes, just thinking. She's not particularly hopeful, but...]

First we'd need to know what caused them...if they run on any kind of fuel.

[ Tyr nods. ] I'm sure they have to; they can't just exist.. The best guess I have is that they run on our magic...

Hm...Not everyone here has magic, but if it does-

[She blinks as the talk of magic reminds her of something-] Oh--the core! It should've been done ages ago.

[ He totally forgot about it, and the sudden subject change makes him lose his train of thought. ]

—Will something happen if we leave it in there?

[Rita's made a mental note to think about the curses later--which she won't forget to do--and stands.]

No, it'll be fine. I put it on a timer so it wouldn't just keep running, but we could've finished it by now!

All right— Let's just finish it now if there's nothing wrong with it.

[ He picks himself up and starts for the machine. If he were more on point, this would be sort of cool to him, seeing a blastia being made from start to finish, but his head is just sort of swimming now. ]

[She glances at him as she moves to open up the lid of the machine, which has been standing still and silent for a couple hours.]

What? You're not excited?

I am. [ He answers automatically, like he's waking up a little. But when did this get exciting?, he wonders.

That doesn't really matter, though. He walks over to peer into the machine. ] This is just...really fast. [ ...But he wants to see the new core-! ]
