[The video's not very clear when it comes on; it's dark and gloomy, showing hints of thick dust and cobwebs--a glimpse of a window reveals deep fog--and then it shifts to Rita's wide-eyed face. When she speaks, she's trying very hard to pretend she's calm...and failing pretty horribly.]

I-is anyone else stuck in this weirdo place? I mean, it's not like I need help or anything, but-

[A loud creak and sudden clatter of footsteps interrupts her, the shutters to the window abruptly blowing open, and she jumps with a yelp.] Aah--! Uh--it's not sc--just where's the exit, already?!

[Maybe realizing that the video's still recording her little freak-out, she quickly shuts it off.]

I'm not going to break it! [ But...he'll be even more gentle now. ] It's just not staying in place...

[She just watches and...sort of tries to encourage.] Then keep going.

[ And now you won't be able to listen to it the same way again... ]

[ It's encouraging enough for him. He slowly pulls his hands away - just in case it falls! - and breathes a quiet sigh of relief when it stays in place. ] All right... I told you I'd be fine with it.

[ ...but just to be careful, he holds it with one hand as he starts to let the mana flow inside. ]

Hm. So far, so good. [Not that she's trying to imply he won't manage the whole thing.]

[ Rodo is Mastiff of the past... ]

Mm. [ He doesn't take it that way, mostly because he needs the bit of encouragement. But that little hum is the only response she gets while he tries to concentrate on what she did before. Opening the valve, blue fills up the flask, and he has to remind himself that there shouldn't be anything wrong with breathing it in even if he does mess up. ...He stands up straight and keeps his face at a safe distance, though, as he watches the paper. ]

[Truth be told, Rita hasn't been able to investigate the effects of high mana levels on the body. She's never been one to use live test subjects--even less so after last October--and she's not about to stick her face in it and see if she gets sick. In any case, she stays quiet to let him focus and observes what he does as the mana flows.]

[ See!? It totally makes sense! ]

[ At the moment, all he does is watch silently the mana flow in a mesmerised way. He just assumed that if mana was harmful, Rita would know somehow and warn him, and knowing mana is always in he air makes him think it can't be that bad...

While he paper starts to turn colours, he thinks of something- ] How exact do you think the amount of mana has to be when you make cores?

[With all the time loopy stuff...it does...!]

[She doesn't think there's any danger. Not normally, at least. Even aer was only problematic when it became extremely thick.

At his question, though, she's quick to reply.] That depends on the complexity of the core. The paper functions as a vague estimate--and that's good enough for most of what I've been doing so far--but for some blastia, it needs to be really precise.

[ Yeah-! Alternate universe future Rodo-! ]

[ And really, Tyr is only apprehensive because it looks like thick smoke. ]

Hm... [ He doesn't know how to feel about that. He thought the paper would be more reliable... But knowing the light is simple, he doesn't feel worried so much about what he's doing. ] Is that another reason you can't make large blastia here?

Yeah, it is. Even bodhi blastia are a bit tricky...Of course, I can still manage those no problem.

Rita's confidence makes him smile. ] Of course you can. I thought you could handle anything before... [ The paper looks purple enough now, and he goes ahead and cuts off the flow. Not so hard! ]

Her smile turns to just a bit of tsun--though she notes that he's doing good--and she crosses her arms.] Only "before"?

[ It's just a rule~♥ ]

[ At least Tyr has a water rune-! ]

Ah, I thought you were admitting you couldn't do everything just now... [ He can still work while he talks to her. Putting in the rubber stopper isn't the least bit difficult, either. ]

[ He measures out fifty units more carefully now. ] I'll take notes to remember all this later, then... [ He doesn't even need to see her book to know he won't be able to read it. ]
