Sure! Everything in my world needs mana to live: without it, the earth would dry up and die. The Great Tree exists at the center of the world, and it makes mana, but it also needs mana to live, too.

...If that's true, I think that Emil kid had it all messed up when he was telling me. He said that there were two worlds that were separated for some reason that had to do with the tree dying, unless...Well, if he was telling the truth, maybe it didn't happen until after your time.

No, Emil has it right. Four thousand years ago, to keep the Giant Kharlan Tree from dying, the hero Mithos split the world in two. But the tree still died, and the two worlds had to compete for mana until we could reunite them and plant a new tree.
