As far as some people are concerned, the future is just an excuse to put off problems that they're too lazy or scared to fix in the present. When they don't have the guts to face something, they leave it for some other time and before you know it, it's become somebody else's problem to deal with.
It doesn't seem like it would be that big an issue at first. It could be something simple, like an equation you put off; later it turns out that somebody else's experiment has blown up because that formula was a missing piece they didn't have yet. Although that might be important personally, it doesn't really have much of an impact on the whole future.
But then there's the problems that do affect everyone and everything: Things that cause the planet to die. The bigger the problem, the more people just want to run from it. Things like that are too big to handle, so they just bury it, hide it away, and forget about it--and if someone comes along one day after they're gone and finds it again, then it's not their problem anymore. It's the future's problem.
Sometimes we realize we can't keep running. Maybe there's nowhere left to run, or going to be nobody else to solve it for you later. It's hard and it's painful, but dealing with it now instead of looking away and letting it get worse is the best choice.
In the end, even a difficult future is better than no future at all.

[The device is on, though she's just quiet and contemplative for a moment after writing her thoughts out.]
Isn't it kind of odd to write about the future in a place where time doesn't really pass? Not as we normally know it, anyway.
[Another long pause. Replacing one convenient technology with another may just be the same as replacing one problem with another. Will it all just happen all over again?
Rita looks like she really wants to say something as she fidgets a bit, but even after what she wrote, there are some things she doesn't want to face right away, either. Eventually, she sighs and glares at the device as though it's at fault, then ends the feed.]

[ And I think they already know each other's names, right? /checks old threads. ]
{ voice; }
It came close to getting completely destroyed. It was bad enough that life on the surface was dying because of the aer and the blastia, but there was a giant monster right outside the atmosphere that they just hid away. Nobody in my time even knew it was there until some idiot accidentally let it out!
{ voice; }
[ Whoaa. And yeah, they introduced each other! Yay! ]
Did you... I hope you found out how to deal with it, Rita. That doesn't sound good at all...
{ voice; }
It was a pretty bad situation. This thing was...probably half the size of the entire planet itself, at least. But we were able to get rid of it with the power of Spirits.
{ voice; }
But it was gotten rid of by the power of the Spirits?
{ voice; }
...And did you say you had demons like that on your world?
{ voice; }
[ read; him :'D ]
{ voice; }
So what was this, uh...Ginunggagap? A Spirit too?
[Worst bouncer job ever?]
{ voice; }
Um. The Ginunggagap- I only remember bits of pieces of it for now. Ratatosk would remember it more... but it's the place that keeps Niflheim at bay. Tenebrae said that because the Giant Kharlan's Tree dug so deep, it became Ratatosk's domain...
[ /tries to remember the game facts. Hope I got it right. And so correct. worst bouncer job ever :( ]
{ voice; }
...Too deep? Did that Ratatosk live underground? Anyway, this Ginunggagap was the barrier, like the one that kept the Adephagos away. So then what's Niflheim?
[/wouldn't know but always wanted to play Symphonia sob. So jealous of Japan and their multi-console versions. T_T]
{ voice; }
And I guess that's right... Niflheim is the realm of demons. It's like another dimension, I guess. According to Tenebrae, if the demons of Niflheim break past the gate at the Ginunggagap, they can make pacts with the monsters of our world... and that's not very good.
[ XD Maybe you can try emulating it? :) I'm... gonna... be hoping I get my facts straight. I think I'm close though... I don't know if Emil knows at this point of the game that the demons are repelled by mana... ]
{ voice; }
[Ooh, are there emulators for it?]
{ voice; }
Time doesn't really move for us here.... so I guess it'll be fine until Tenebrae and I return. We'll probably go to the Ginunggagap then to keep Richter from opening the door then.
[ Yeah. I've read that it's pretty much emulating-possible now. You can emulate PS2 games now too! I'm not sure what specs you need to run it in your computer though... but I guess a Dualcore with a good graphics card would be sufficient... I only emulate PSone games myself ^^; ]
{ voice; }
[My computer...probably couldn't handle it. ^^; But I'll definitely have to look into it and see!]
{ voice; }
...It was my fault. I killed someone important to him.
[ :) Well, you could wait a while... I lucked out with Symphonia, I think. Bought a gamecube while they still had the game in the stores. Didn't think it'd be so hard to find now... or expensive... The first game, I mean :) ]
{ voice; }
[Yep, it's pretty expensive (so is Abyss now, too). Though if I do ever find it, I could hijack my sister's Wii and play it on there.]
{ voice; } { 1/2 }
[ he stops and then falls into that habit of sort of defending Richter. ]
{ voice; }
[ I found Abyss by chance :) I was so happy- I got it for 14.99 ;-) And that was last year too ;_; ...I have seen Symphonia around for, maybe, 30 bucks around here.. so it isn't bad... ]
{ voice; }
...But still, doing that--it would endanger the world, wouldn't it? He's just letting his anger out of control too.
[Ooh, lucky! There's not much in the way of video game stores around here, but I'll have to see. Also, going to work soon so I'll probably stop tagging until later. ):]
{ voice; }
[ Courage is the magic that WILL MAKE EMIL MAKE IT RIGHT B)
I'll catch you later then :) ♥ Maybe you can try online? ]
{ voice; }
[She's heard about his split personality from Yuri, so, yeah.
As for online, looks like ebay miiight just have some affordable-ish copies! /ponders]
{ voice; }
[ Yuri's talked about it 8D?
...and yesss... Go go BD ]
{ voice; }
[The conversation went from Leon's grumpiness to the old apartment getting blown up by Ratatosk, I think. XD
S-so tempting...*_*]
{ voice; }
[ A bit... really. ]
It's probably hard to believe now but before, I remembered everything I was doing when I'm.. the other me. So I know we're the same.
[ ...and he's a killer. ]
[ Do you have budget for iiit? :D And bwahaha. SQUIRRELTOSK. Does Rita know Emil's a Summon Spirit? ]
{ voice; }
[Nope, she doesn't know about that yet (but she heard about the squirrel thing XD).
Weeellll, I think it could~ I'd have to either hijack my sister's Wii or get my own console for it, though. Slightly more pricey. ^^;]
