I need someone to heal a stab wound. Sooner rather than later.

[ooc: After the AU curse where she tortured her best friends, Rita's back to...well, uncursed. Not so much normal. She intended to filter this away from people who were involved, but was too busy thinking about other things sob.]

[Eventually, Rita can't stand it: she has to check for herself that everyone else is all right. Even so, she can't really face them, either; so she'll just creep into the house late at night when sane people should be sleeping, and take a peek at them. That's the plan. Foolproof.

Since it's not exactly normal for anyone to sit on the roof, she's not looking up when she approaches the house. But as the front door comes into view, she falters. Actually, maybe this is a bad idea. She could just come back later, say she needs to get a book from the study or something-]

[Spotting her, seeing that she's mostly well and all right, a burden releases itself from his shoulders. Their little genius mage - still so young but enduring so much - was all right. He sees her second-guessing, and rather than wait for her to decide for herself what she wants to do, he jumps down to the roof below - and then another - until he reaches the ground, just a few feet away.]

Welcome back, Rita.

[She tenses up when she sees him, automatically crossing her arms and trying to pretend she's not looking at him too closely to ensure he's fine. Actually meeting any of them wasn't supposed to be in her plan, but--now that they're there, face-to-face, she finds it's not quite as bad as she was expecting. Maybe it's because Yuri was cursed too.]

I, uh...I-I didn't plan on staying.

[When he'd been cursed all those months back, he'd stayed away from the house as well - stayed with Ino for months instead. He understands perfectly.]

I wanted to make sure of something, first.

[That she was really all right.]

[Her fingers twist in the fabric of her sleeves nervously. What did he want to make sure of, when he must have known she was cursed?]

I'm not...cursed anymore, if that's why you're out here. I just came to--to check.

[She practically spits out the word. If she'd thought some of the curses before were nightmares, well--none of them compared to this.]

That you were okay.

[Something of a mysterious, vague smile.]

[She eases up just a little; not really relaxing, but not ready to feel like bolting at a moment's notice, either.]

Y-yeah, it's healed. [Even though she knows he's not just talking about the arm.]

...And everyone else--they, uh...they made it out, right?

Everyone but you.

[Blunt, but of course not meant to be hurtful.]

She was worried sick. Don't think she slept a wink.

I got out later, but--I-it's good to know nobody else was hurt. [Even more than they already were, anyway.]

...Yeah. She was pretty worn out.

[Can't look him in the eye when she says that. Guilty face forever.]

[Not one for...comforting...but he smiles at her anyway.]

Don't know what we'd do without our genius mage.

[She's so heard "genius" more than enough times lately. Now she just frowns, a bit more moodily.]

Yeah, sure. You'd figure it out eventually.

[Draws closer- gives her a light punch against the shoulder. Brotherly, almost.]

You know where to find me if you need me.

[Gives him a "what are you doing?" look, though she's also relieved he's acting fairly normal. Almost makes her feel closer to normal.]

Right...Not the study, that's for sure.

Always knew we were close.

[Now...for a hair ruffle.]

Don't think about it too much.

[Aw. Making a slightly annoyed sulk, though it's only half-serious. She actually feels a lot better now--maybe coming by wasn't such a bad idea, after all.]

It's not like I was planning on brooding forever.

Course not. What was I thinking.

[Classic Yuri smile]

B-beats me. I don't know what goes on in there half of the time.

[Sounding a little more like herself.]

That's all a secret.

And the kind that's better off that way.

I'll let you get back to what you're doing, then, Rita.

[A wave and he walks off - slowly, just in case]

Y-yeah...I-

[And she thinks about saying something else--she's not really sure what, exactly--though ends up deciding against it. Still wants to just take a peek inside the house.]

I'm just getting a book I need.

[He pauses, hand on his hip, back still turned to her.]

You don't have to hide.

[He did after his own evil run, lived with Ino for a few months. It was mostly out of respect for Leon - he just knows that grumpy kid way too well. But Rita- Rita should stay where she belongs. With Brave Vesperia.]

Wh-who said I'm--

[She cuts herself off. What would be the point in getting so defensive now, anyway? Yet what comes out is still something pretty close to denial, even if it's not a complete avoidance.]

...I'm not really hiding. Just--thinking for a while.

[He knows Rita well enough by now- not that she makes it hard to tell when she's denying something. But he goes along with it.]

Right- then don't think so much your head explodes.

[She knows he's not falling for it either, but since he's not going to press about it, she doesn't have to care.]

...Right. No guarantees.
