Of course blastia cores are interesting. I always wanted to know how the ancients who created blastia did it... [And then she trails off and frowns, because when they actually did find out, it was pretty horrific, actually. But then she shakes her head and continues.] Anyway, ever since we stopped using aer, I worked on coming up with my own method to synthesize cores.

[ ~~That's right! ;~;~~ Just normal!! Always!

When she trails off like that, it makes him even more curious, but she moves on. Maybe he'd ask more later. It's just sweet to him how much she likes blastia. ]

And now you can make them pretty easily, right?

[She wouldn't mind explaining if he did ask; for the most part, it's all in the past to her, and she wants to focus on the new cores.]

[Rita is very okay with this, and she grins and starts drawing a schematic for him.]

Method aside, old blastia cores were basically extremely dense, solidified aer that had been processed. I've done something similar, though they're not quite as dense--the time and pressure needed for that kind of density just isn't something we can handle.

Anyway, I create a solid lattice network of a stable mana derivative. It's...Let's see...the network basically keeps the entire thing stable but also lets signals be transmitted. That way, we can input commands it'll recognize, like a formula.

[ That's right~! ]

[ The fact she's smiling as she explains is what makes this fun for him, though he's come to enjoy the scientific side, too. Not that he's said so. He watches her draw over her shoulder as he listens. Compared to when they started, he understands what she's explaining much better. ]

I see. Sort of like a net... [ Or a system of people... But he can visualise it even if he can't explain it. ] But because of that, it works just as well as old cores, right?

[She's immensely pleased that he's learned so much about them, too. It's pretty enjoyable when they work together. At his question, she shakes her head, tapping her chin with a finger.]

No...There's a few things working against us there. Mana doesn't react as easily as aer, first of all, so utilizing it is harder. But even besides that...Its inherent limitations just don't account for the drop in efficiency. I'm almost certain that the City interferes with it in some way.

[ He stops smiling at that. That doesn't sound good... But she'll work out the problems - he knows that. ]

My runes aren't as strong here, either. [ This is him trying to be encouraging. ] The City probably takes it away for some reason.

...I can't imagine the blastia working more strongly than they do now, though. They don't seem weak to me.

[Rita nods; she isn't necessarily encouraged, but she's accepted it as something they just have to work with. She can't help but smile just slightly, though.]

That's because you haven't seen how they were back then in my world. My spells were a lot stronger, too.

I guess you're right... I'd like to see how they're supposed to be, in that case. [ Because Rita's already pretty strong to him. ] Your magic is impressive as it is.

[ If he were thinking of this more deeply, he might have some particular questions, but this is just chatting to him. ]

[Being praised by Tyr fr her magic inevitably brings a slight blush to her face, though she tries to wave it off and be casual about it.]

[ Rita liking praise isn't that new. Calling herself "the genius mage" doesn't seem casual to him, though. There's a note of laughter in his voice. ]
