[ Later on, he'll have plenty of reason!! ]

[ They better be cowering in fear, but Tyr won't even speculate. He needs the concentration to cast, and he closes his eyes as he finishes: ]

Explosion!

[ And Rita will know just where they're running: Tyr turns on his heel and runs in the opposite direction. ]

[Yes! Always plenty of opportunities...]

[She's caught a little by surprise--partly from the size of the spell he decides to cast and partly because he goes in a completely different direction. It doesn't stop her from following him easily enough; only an idiot would run towards the spell blowing apart the room that's now behind them.]

[ A lifetime's worth... ]

[ The sound of everything burning and coming apart distracts from any other sounds that might rise out of there. Even if they're just shadows, the room is lit up enough now to get rid of all of those, too. Even when they're outside the room, Tyr isn't going to stop running. ]

At least there won't be any monsters left out of that.

[Hehehe. >:3]

There's no way those things could get out of that! [Just as long as they're normal monsters. She doesn't look back, just keeps running with Tyr as a blast of hot air blows past them, sparks showering the corridor.]

[ >:3 Best ever. ]

[ The hot, dry air, the fire everywhere and its glow on the walls...it reminds him of the floating fortress, but just like then, he's just going to get out of there before it burns up completely. ]

I hope not... If nothing else, it should block them off enough to keep them from following us.

[Yep. X)]

[The hot, stifling air is uncomfortable and annoying to Rita at worst. If it gets too out of control before they can find their way out, she'll just use her water spells to get rid of the flames. Beyond that, the fire isn't what she's worried about.] Forget about those things now! Let's just get out!

[ He won't complain about that... He just nods. ] Right...

[ Tyr is worried about the house falling in on them more than anything, after all. As they run, the lights in the other rooms flicker on - both the electric ones and the candles - making the torch no longer needed. They're still in the maze of repeating rooms, though. ]

What the... [She glances at the lights in surprise and suspicion.] Why the hell are they coming on now?

[The maze is frustrating her, too. It doesn't seem to be ending at all.]

[ He shakes his head. ] There's no point asking; this place is cursed. [ Maybe it's on to prove that they're getting nowhere, Tyr thinks. They've gone through more rooms now than when they originally did. ]

[She knows he's right, and between that and the neverending rooms, it's getting so irritating...] Ugh, I'm sick of this!

[Not that she has any other ideas, either. She's so caught up in complaining that she doesn't notice that the next room isn't quite as identical as the others: there's one extra door set into the left wall.]

[ He snaps at her: ] So am I!

[ And maybe that's the way out, he hopes! At least out of the maze. Even if she tries to keep going the same way, he pulls her towards the other door. ] Let's go this way!

Then--huh? [Her own snippy reply is lost as they abruptly turn towards that door, and then she's a little less annoyed.] Finally, something different!

Hopefully... [ Tyr can be less annoyed, too, now that it's not just an endless series of the same room over and over. He reaches out to pull the door open, and he's ready to just run in. ]

[Then they're both less annoyed and ready to get going. So just for them, as soon as Tyr reaches out, the door bursts open by another force--a hideous, skulking shape with raspy laughter.

Rita shrieks in response.]

[ Tyr stumbles backwards clumsily, almost immobilised both by the sight of--whatever that is--and the sound Rita's scream that feels like it pierces his ears.

But they can't just stand there. He puts his hand on her opposite shoulder now, caught somewhere between 'let's turn and run' and 'I'll protect you'. He hasn't decided which yet, and he can't find it in him to say anything now anyway. ]

[Rita, terrified as she is, will do enough shouting for both of them as she stands stiffly with Tyr.] G-go away--leave us alone, already!

[The thing lurches forward; somehow its features are indistinct despite the fact that the lights are on now.]

[ When it moves forward, Tyr decides that he's going to use that hand on her shoulder to yank her off to the side with him and out of its direct path. Her being scared makes him more determined to fight back. ]

Come on!

[ Why does it look like that? It doesn't look real, but they should be able to fight it, right? ...After running away. ]

[She doesn't take her eyes off of it as he yanks her away. It almost doesn't look real, but it has to just be a trick or something...right?

The lights flicker briefly as it turns in their direction.] L-let's just get rid of it!

[ —He hopes the other lights don't go out. He tries to grab his staff off his back and swing it at the thing, but just getting it is a bit of a challenge when walking backwards while holding Rita's hand. ]

We need some space first! You can't cast at this range, can you?

I can cast at any range! [Technically. Whether or not they get caught up in whatever she casts or the creature gets to them first is a different story. She starts going to cast anyway, blinks, and--

Suddenly, there's nothing there. The thing's completely vanished into thin air.] ...What the...

[ If there's a chance Rita could be fatally wounded before she finished casting, Tyr considers that 'unable'. As long as he's with her, though, he guesses he could cover for her while she casts. He's about to pull his staff forward when it just...disappears. ]

Ah-

[ Tyr stares ahead of him, dumbstruck. His fingers linger on the tip of his staff, but he doesn't move.

Then he snaps his head around to look around him. ]

—Can it teleport?

[And Tyr tends to have more sense than Rita does.

She looks around too, but there's nothing to be seen or heard. If it can teleport, it could appear again from anywhere...] Well, it's not here anymore, is it?

[ He pauses, wanting to be sure of himself before he answers, but there really is nothing there. ]

I guess not...

[ He relaxes and lets his other arm fall back to his side. ]

Which way should we go, though?

...Why're you asking me? [Her reply is low and distracted as she keeps looking around. She's starting to think that it doesn't really matter where they go, anyway.]

Because I don't know... [ He's quiet, too, but anxious to go pretty much anywhere. He wonders if the fire they left behind is still going and if it'll spread, and he wonders what other monsters are here that they'll need to fight. ]
