What was that? [As uneasy as she is, she doesn't stop, moving even more quickly. As long as they can get out of the smoke, she's pretty sure they can still blast their way out.]

Let's not find out. [ He coughs again, and he does not mind running as long as he doesn't lose her hand. When will they find a wall to blast, though? Tyr knows that they should have run into something a while ago, but they're still trapped like this... On the bright side, there's less smoke and less of that burnt smell in the air - it's just hot still. ]

You think I want to stick around? Let's just find a way out! [Wherever it is. Rita pulls him forward more insistently, frustration eating at her. They should have reached something by now. The thinning smoke is a small relief, even if she still hates the heat.]

Okay! [ However they're going to do that. He wants to turn back, but between her tugging and the smoke thinning out, he's less willing. ] Do you actually know where you're going?

[ After a few more steps, the floor drops off and returns to the hard texture of the floor that ran through the rest of the house. ]

[Her boots make dull thwacks on the hard floor now, and it makes her feel as though they're finally getting somewhere. She snaps out a simple-] Somewhere else!

[So she has no idea, really. As soon as they're far enough away from the heat and acrid smell, she'll stop, but they'll keep going blindly in the darkness for now. Unless...] Hey, gimme the torch.

[ She's kind of annoying him with her attitude, mostly because he's not feeling well still. Nevertheless, he pokes her shoulder with the end of it for her to take. ] Are you sure we should light it again? After just getting out of all that smoke...

[She is...pretty ignorant of how he might be feeling. So she lets her hand hover over the torch, pausing to reply.] It's not like the torch was the problem! Besides, we could run into anything like this!

[ If only Tyr was more open-! He just waits for her to light the torch up. ] We didn't even run into a wall when we did have it.

And you think we'll do better without one? [If only-! Or if Rita was more perceptive... A short mutter and a flick of her wrist later, the tip of the torch crackles with a new flame--it almost makes it seem as though the shadows suddenly scurry away.]

I'm saying it didn't help before... [ Which doesn't freak Tyr out at all... Despite all that running, Tyr's disappointed to see it's the same room they had run out of before. The hole she blasted is even behind them, still as plain as before.

But he's more concerned with everything he can't see around them, and continues to glance around the room. ]

You'd rather run around in circles? [She leaves the now-lit torch in Tyr's hand for now, scowling around the room. The rope is still on the floor, trailing through the room and back beyond the hole.]

...Want me to blast the other wall instead?

[ He'll take it and just fall silent for a little while. He honestly doesn't know what he wants to do. ]

I just want to get out of this place and find some light already... Blasting the wall could just send us back into the same situation we were in before, though. If we have to go through that all over again...

[She turns to him, expression annoyed.] So you have a better idea?

[ And he doesn't look any more happy when he looks back at her. ] We could go back upstairs. If this is the basement, it won't do us any good to destroy the walls anyway.

Assuming we can even find the stairs. [But she starts moving anyway rather than waste time and stand around. She follows the rope--just for now, until they're out of this maze of identical rooms.]

We took the stairs down, so we can just follow the path to where they start. [ For the rope being useless, she's still following it... He'll follow behind her, eyes darting around to try to catch whatever he keeps seeing from the corner of his eye. ]

Like it'll be that easy... [/totally not a hypocrite. She just...knows they can't go the other way! Or so she tries to reason it to herself as she tugs him forward.]

[ He still follows her, though he's not watching where he's going because of that. ] Tearing our way out of here hasn't worked out, either.

[The fact that it's true just riles her up even more.] Shut up! We just need to try harder, all right?

[And she's too busy snapping at him to notice the the irregularly-moving shadow on the wall ahead.]

We can try harder to find the front door, too.

[ And she'll be getting yanked back before she can walk into its range (...he hopes, anyway), since that actually is what he's looking out for. ] Watch out!

You think I- [Her indignant response is cut off as she grunts in surprise and gets pulled back towards Tyr.] What?

[ Saying "There's a weird shadow" would be stupid, so instead he tells her: ] There's some kind of monster over there. It's moving in the shadows.

What? [She snaps her attention forward again, looking for a monster in the flickering shadows--and she can't exactly pick out one, because all of the shadows are shifting irregularly.] It...I-it's just the torch...I mean, I don't see any monsters!

[ They all look menacing to him, like they're trying taunt them into coming forward. ] Shadows don't move like that. It has to be something.

Like what? [The fact she can't see anything making the shadows makes her antsy. They can't attack something if there's nothing there...] It's just...They're probably our shadows, okay?
