[ And he doesn't look any more happy when he looks back at her. ] We could go back upstairs. If this is the basement, it won't do us any good to destroy the walls anyway.

Assuming we can even find the stairs. [But she starts moving anyway rather than waste time and stand around. She follows the rope--just for now, until they're out of this maze of identical rooms.]

We took the stairs down, so we can just follow the path to where they start. [ For the rope being useless, she's still following it... He'll follow behind her, eyes darting around to try to catch whatever he keeps seeing from the corner of his eye. ]

Like it'll be that easy... [/totally not a hypocrite. She just...knows they can't go the other way! Or so she tries to reason it to herself as she tugs him forward.]

[ He still follows her, though he's not watching where he's going because of that. ] Tearing our way out of here hasn't worked out, either.

[The fact that it's true just riles her up even more.] Shut up! We just need to try harder, all right?

[And she's too busy snapping at him to notice the the irregularly-moving shadow on the wall ahead.]

We can try harder to find the front door, too.

[ And she'll be getting yanked back before she can walk into its range (...he hopes, anyway), since that actually is what he's looking out for. ] Watch out!

You think I- [Her indignant response is cut off as she grunts in surprise and gets pulled back towards Tyr.] What?

[ Saying "There's a weird shadow" would be stupid, so instead he tells her: ] There's some kind of monster over there. It's moving in the shadows.

What? [She snaps her attention forward again, looking for a monster in the flickering shadows--and she can't exactly pick out one, because all of the shadows are shifting irregularly.] It...I-it's just the torch...I mean, I don't see any monsters!

[ They all look menacing to him, like they're trying taunt them into coming forward. ] Shadows don't move like that. It has to be something.

Like what? [The fact she can't see anything making the shadows makes her antsy. They can't attack something if there's nothing there...] It's just...They're probably our shadows, okay?

... Okay. Just don't let your guard down. [ And Tyr has spells if they need them. The shadows are just shifting and moving around the light. It's not like shadows can hurt them... Maybe he's just paranoid.

He starts walking forward again. ]

[Despite her protests that they're just shadows, Rita's reluctant to approach them.] W-wait a minute...You still want to go that way?

[ He looks over at her again. So much for them just being their shadows (that don't move when they move...and don't work with the current light source...). ]

If there's something there, we can fight it. [ Right? ]

[She's sure they're just shadows! It's just that...she can't rationalize how they're being created and moving like that...]

Well...I guess, but...

[ ...It's really creepy, but they don't really have a choice. He gives her hand a little squeeze. ]

I have a fire rune if we need to attack and a water rune if anything else happens. We'll be okay.

I--I know, okay? [Later, if when they get out and she calms down, she'll have to apologize to Tyr. For now, she glares at the shadows, but Tyr mentioning his water rune makes her remember something.]

...Hey. If it comes to healing, you'll have to take care of it.

[ He doesn't hold it against her right now though he wishes she wasn't freaking out. It's making him even more anxious (and not move).

Of course, part of the reason for that is because of what she says next. He looks at her in confusion. ]

What do you mean? [ He's a better healer than she is, but that's irrelevant to Tyr. ]

[She hates that she's freaking out, too. But everything in a curse like this works against them--almost like that nightmare curse from last year.

Her voice is a little shakier than she'd like it to be when she replies.] I mean...I'm making Yuri practice with it. So I don't have the rune.

... [ He sighs quietly under his breath. If he were thinking of Yuri having it rather than just Rita not having it, he'd question this all more, but that isn't important to him now. He just wishes he could just give her another one to help calm her down and give her more of a sense of security. By the time they can do that, though, they'll already be out. (Not that she won't need one then, too.) ]

Then I'll heal you in the meantime - [ and he adds hastily ] - if you need it. You were fine without the rune before, so...

[ A hand comes to rest on Rita's shoulder. While Tyr's holding both the torch and her hand. ]

[With Yuri, it wasn't so much the healing spell she wanted him to have--he already had a healing arte of his own--but the sleeping spell. It seemed more likely he'd be able to use the rune rather than learn the blastia formula, so she'd all but forced it on him.]

So, just...[She relaxes a little bit with Tyr's hand on her shoulder, feeling a little stupid for worrying, and squeezes his hand.

...The hand that's not on her shoulder, even though the torch isn't anywhere near her, either...

Abruptly, she stiffens, eyes wide.] W-wait a minute...You're...That's not... [It can't be Tyr's hand, meaning--suddenly she whirls around and backs away.] Aah! G-get away!

[ And one day, he might need to use that sleeping spell...

And Tyr thinks she just relaxes because they're holding hands and she trusts his healing abilities... He even smiles a little.

Until she freaks out again. He walks back with her, turning around to try to find what caused her to turn and cry out like that. His eyes catch sight of a long arm whipping back into the darkness, and he thought he almost heard something giggling.

But Tyr does know one thing: They are not going to get attacked here. He glares out at the shadows and holds onto her hand tightly. ] I'll get rid of it.

[To stop someone during a curse...

Rita's grip on Tyr's hand is nearly vice-like as she stares in shock into the shadows.] W-what the hell is that?! It's like it--I mean, where'd it even come from?!

[ Too bad it didn't see use in October...

He's definitely not letting go of her hand, so she can cling to it all she wants. ]

It doesn't matter! It has to be a monster, so there's a way to get rid of it!

[ He has to be confident in that, he thinks, or there's no point to him starting to cast now. ]
