When she asks that question, he actually looks around him, trying to give some landmark to say how close he is. The best he can do, though, is say: ] I'm on the beach...

Does it look like it's a fake to you?! [Just for his benefit, she pans and shakes the camera to emphasize the old, wooden hallway.

Rita can't even tell that he's on the beach, though she narrows her eyes to try and pick anything out in the fog.] You're sure, right?

[ He sighs under his breath as he looks at it. ] Yeah... Yeah, it does. I'll try to find it... [ Somehow...

To her question, he nods. ] Definitely, unless the City changed the layout of the landscape.

Huh? [She gives him a scowl, though it disappears when she jumps from another rattle somewhere in the building.]

Ugh...It's not like that would've been impossible...

[ It feels like the twentieth time he wants to ask What's going on?, but he just opens his mouth and closes it again. ] I'm saying the fog is thick. I don't know if I'll be able to find the house you're in...

... I don't think this is the kind of curse where they'd do that... [ Though he looks down anyway, even if all it does is confirm he's walking in sand. ]

Of course it's thick! [She shouldn't be snapping at him like this, she knows, but...She's getting more and more worried that Tyr's going to end up somewhere completely different.]

Why not? If it's the kind of curse where they're trying to get us lost, that's just the kind of thing they'd do!

[ He gives her a hard look. ] It wasn't this bad in the City! I've never seen fog like this before.

[ Sighing, he has to agree. ] Maybe... I don't know anywhere else here that has sand, though.

Well, you're seeing it now! Don't run into anything. [There's only one other time she's seen fog like this too, and that was on the ocean...]

[At least that means he's on the beach.] Okay, but...It's not like they can't still make you get lost.

[ And now he's a little annoyed. ] I wasn't planning to.

All they really need is this fog... It's hard not to get lost here when you can't see where you're going.

[Rita doesn't take as much notice as she should, just grumbling out a "hmph!" and continuing down the hall again.]

So what you're saying is that you might as well be lost already.

[ He glares at her and doesn't really say anything. It's true after all; he is basically lost. There's still some hope that he'll just wander around and find the house eventually, though.

The floorboards are getting even more creaky, too. Even Tyr can hear them. ]

[She almost has half a mind to tell him to go back before he can't any longer, but the creaks are distracting.]

N-now what?

What? Now I'm going to try finding your place. [ He thought that was obvious. It was the only reason he came.

The creaks are pretty distracting, though, especially with how quiet the ocean is in the background for him. ]

You don't even know if you're going in the right direction! [And maybe she's worried he'll end up somewhere else...With the creaking as the only loud noise, it's kind of creepy...]

[ And her worry is lost on him. ] You're not one to talk. [ Floorboards whining with every step... It's actually just annoying to Tyr. ]

[They're both so perceptive...] I'm still looking for a way out, all right?! [She makes a little squeak when the creaking's interrupted by a window's shutters being abruptly blown open behind her. Stupid house...]

[ He's about to tell her that she still got lost, but the sounds from her end make his mind blank in worry. For a second, he stares at her in concern, but then shakes his head. ] All right... Just be careful while you do.

I am being careful! [Sort of. Even if being careless made her end up in this situation, she realizes...She's not too good at keeping that promise.]

...I mean...I will. You just do the same, got it?

[ When it matters, Tyr never really cares about the promises so long as nothing happens to her. He's not even going to argue about how careful she is. ]

...I will too. [ He quickly adds: ] I brought something to help us get back out when I find you. Just stay safe until I get there.

[ Don't let that portrait smiling at you freak you out, either. ]

[Getting lost might not count as nothing, but it's not as bad as last time. He does get her curious, though.]

Huh? What did you-

Ah-! [Totally not freaked out by the portrait!! Just ignore the half-gasp half-yelp she makes.]

[ Neither Tyr nor the portrait does: Tyr picks up his pace a little more, and the portrait's smile broadens into a toothy grin. ]

I brought a rope and some paper. [ Not much else he has laying around his house ~~like an escape talisman~~. ] It should be enough to at least either let us retrace our path or climb out...

[That grin freaks Rita out so much that she doesn't entirely hear what Tyr's saying, too busy grimacing in fear. Her wide eyes are focused on the portrait and not the device as she yells-]

C-cut it out!

[ He knows she isn't talking to her, and he doesn't say anything in case it distracts her. Nope, just running in the general direction of (where he thinks) her house is.

The portrait keeps smiling at her, maybe something in its eyes that say it's having too much fun to stop. ]

[A part of her almost wants to tell him to hurry up when she hears his rapid footsteps through the device, but she settles for glowering at the portrait, backing up against a wall, and starting to cast a spell.]

I'm sick of this!

I'm coming as quickly as I can!

[ He just hasn't seen anything but white mist all around him, like he's not going anywhere at all.

The portrait, in turn, pouts at her, but it does so in the most mocking way possible. ]
